The Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM), in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission (SLIC), is organizing a special workshop titled “Patenting and Intellectual Property Awareness.” This knowledge-sharing session aims to enhance the understanding of intellectual property rights among ITUM students and academic staff, supporting a culture of innovation, research commercialization, and technology-driven entrepreneurship.

The workshop will be conducted by Professor Veranja Karunaratne (Commissioner, SLIC) and the Director of the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission, who will share expert insights on the importance of patenting, the process of filing local and international patents, conducting patentability searches, and the value of protecting creative work in today’s competitive innovation landscape.

Venue: ITUM Main Auditorium

The session is open to Semester 2 & Semester 4 students and academic staff members.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation in recognition of their engagement and learning.
